On
February 14, 1983 at the age of sixteen, my good friend Dave
and I attended our very first RUSH concert in Long Beach,
California. We were in awe! The Signals World Tour
was a hit! Since then, Dave and I have paid homage to RUSH
every chance we got. In the early days of concert "hit or
miss" ticket buying frenzies we dreamed of one day scoring
front row tickets to a show. In the meantime - not knowing any better
- we often settled on "nosebleed sections"
at local venues. Before the Test For Echo tour, Dave
befriended a ticket agent and was pleasantly surprised at the amount
it would actually take for the two of us to accomplish our dream of
finally attaining front row seats. ***NOTE
TO READER*** It pays to make friends with ticket agencies! Send 'em
flowers if you have to! They remember and often reward nice customers.
Good luck!
The
test for echo tour was a blast! Not only did
we score front row, Dave
took home one of Neil's drumsticks!

For
the Vapor Trails tour I headed out on a West Coast road trip
with a new fellow Rush fan and travel companion named Judy.
Dave would hook up with us back home in the Southern California
area on the second half of our journey - see my Rush roadtrip
pages for details of our adventures. I managed to catch a total
of seven shows this
time around. It was s-o-o-o worth the experience.
Over
all, RUSH has proven to be one of the most standout and uplifting
musical influences of my life. For that, I am forever indebted to
the collaborative efforts of Alex Lifeson, Neil Peart
and Geddy Lee -Words cannot express the gratitude I have for
the art your work has inspired in me as an illustrator and artist.
Thank you for the music. Alex, Neil and Geddy
- you will always be number one in my book.
